PlutoA very interesting astrological event came to attention recently via Spirit and Destiny Magazine, one that has been rather under reported so far. On the 26th of January, the distant planetoid Pluto will enter the astrological house of Capricorn the symbol of conservatism, leadership and at times dominance. America was born as a nation on the date 04/07/1776 under the exactly opposed sign Cancer at the end of a passing through Capricorn by Pluto.

Its no wonder then the astrologers are interested what the return  to this position heralds for America and by default the global culture that is intrinsically linked to it, its been 230 years since last time.

Pluto has a great deal of mystical symbolism attached to it as well as being attributed links to both mysticism and Satanism. Much of it sounds startlingly relevant to the current times in which we find ourselves.  Pluto is patron of big business as well as rebirth, death and transformation. Named for the God of the ancients hell-like vision named Hades, and attributed with control over the land of the dead as well as a herald toward higher realms of existence and the need to explore these. Pluto’s only moon is named Charon, after the ferryman whom carries souls across the river Stix on to the land of the dead.

In astrological terms, the fact that Pluto is the furthest out of the heavenly bodies of our solar system its changes are seen as extremely relevant and of wide effect. Pluto’s changing house is considered a bringer of changes on the level of entire populations. Although Pluto urges change, its effect on conservative power blocks can mean they clamp down massively and impair civil liberties on a massive scale. At the level of the populace, it brings about a desire for a revolutionary sense of greater self-responsibility. Pluto is spoken of by some as bringing the urge for changing life’s dissatisfactions, and giving the energy to carry that out fully.

Those born under Pluto’s influence are likely to feel compelled to seek out injustice they perceive, which in itself is positive. However, the negative side of this influence is that many become crusaders blind to their own faults and therefore cause more problems than they solve. Recent global conflicts seem to echo this ominously as we see more and more controversial revelations from events. In addition, the collapse in the financial markets would seem to resonate with the idea of Pluto and its link to change in business fortunes globally. We have seen in just a few days the collapse of the financial markets as well as the largest ever act of banking fraud all to a backdrop of credit crunch and property uncertainty.

Pluto is depicted by a symbol representing spirit forged in the crucible of matter, a very interesting choice indeed. It is tied to the aspects of power within the smallest levels of reality such as atoms, hence its name being used for the culturally ominous substance Plutonium. This also makes it important to more refined higher realms of existence and the idea of hidden modes of existence spiritually important to us. This is why it can be seen as both a harbinger of radical and difficult changes, yet also a positive catalyst for the inner substance of humanity. The next 15 years in which Pluto visits Capricorn are projected to be of great import for America in particular of course, and its is predicted that it will never be the same again. Some new form of global superpower will replace indeed that by the end of that phase, America. First comes the tightening of the reigns by the outgoing old guard, then the fall of an outdated mode of governance. The end of illegitimate political forces such as Neo-Conservatism and Global Elitism could be just around the bend.

The fact that 21-12-2012 falls in the midst of this section of the Pluto orbit is of course also very interesting with all the change symbolism attached to it also. Especially relevant is that much of the 2012 change information comes from the American cultures of by gone years, such as the ancient American Indians. It would seem that information suggesting a time of change in the global mode of governance becoming vital at this long predicted time is reflected well within Pluto astrological symbolism.

Time and events are shown by history to be largely cyclical, not linear, in nature. It would seem to me unwise to simply write of any of these astronomic cycles as irrelevant to us. We are lead by very relevant natural cycles, indeed some govern every aspect of us. I must admit that I wonder what we will see by the time Pluto exits Capricorn in 2025. It would seem that this European astronomy meshes well with that of the Mayans, Hopi and other important cultures at this time, many of these being studied by us in the Western world at this time.

The best advise that astrologers seem to have for us entering this period seems to be, hold on to your hats, but make sure you don’t struggle, just go with the flow of being fully embedded in the process of radical global change.

As a final note for budding astronomers, keep your eyes to the sky on January 29th as the massive TU2007 asteroid passes close to the Earth.
